Why the latest method is safer
The old approach added samples and phantom tracks to the video. It worked, but because of such metadata TikTok could not re-encode the video back to a safe state without serious problems, as happened with the first two methods.
Our three checks
Before the method reached users, it passed three internal checks.
1
Based on new logic
The method does not use samples or phantom tracks
Passed
2
Video re-encoding
The video goes through a special process where we sequentially get the answer: can the video be compressed and returned to a safe state without problems
Passed
3
TikTok compression
Force the platform to re-encode the video

What came before
The previous two methods
Both were unsafe: they could not survive full TikTok compression or the local check without serious side effects

Important
At the third stage we did not achieve the desired result. So we cannot guarantee 100%. Still, the current method is the safest of the latest releases.
